cop tasors girls
I read online today about a police officer who used his taser gun on a ten year old girl that he claimed was being unruly. This seems a bit ridiculous to me what could a ten year old little girl have been doing to a grown police officer that he could not deal without using a tasor? If I was the parent of that child and I was present when the officer did that to my kid I would have socked him in the face no matter what my kid was doing to upset the officer. There just seems to be no explanation for stuff like this and cops that think they have power to do stuff like this shouldn’t be working in a position that is supposed to involve safety and trust. I am not a fan of cops at all for a few personal reasons but stories like this make me mad.
New mexico soccer player
Im sure most of you have seen the clips all over the internet about this New Mexico soccer player who just got suspended for the flagrant cheap shots. I just saw them for the first time the other day and they were just as shocking as the rumors about them. I kind of feel bad for this girl in a way because now everyone in the country thinks she is a complete psycho which she very well could be after seeing those clips, but there always is that small chance that the competition could have just got the best of her. I saw online today that she is trying to defend herself to the press saying that she was not the monster that the clips made her out to be. It would be pretty hard to explain yourself out of that mess but I geuss we ll have to see what she comes up with. All I know is it would suck to be known as the psyco cheapshot girl from YouTube for your whole life and definitely be a tough thing to explain to your kids.
2012
This past weekend I saw the movie 2012 in theatres. Going into it I was a little unsure still because i was curious if the director could depict the end of the world in way that looked realistic and keep me interested the whole movie. Well the director definitely did not let me down the movie had the coolest graphics I think I have ever seen and it was worth 7 bucks 100%. I thought it was really cool how it followed the story of people being effected from all over the world and then tied them all together in the end to have it make sense. I would definitely see this movie again

Fort Hood Sootings
The shooting massacre that took place on an army base in Fort Hood Texas has shocked the nation and captured the full attention of the national media. Earlier this week a sergeant who was actually stationed at the Fort Hood army base walked in with two handguns and started firing at innocent men and women. Eleven people were killed and upwards of thirty people were injured. Stories like this really bother me because there is no reason for things like this to happen, I mean what the hell is wrong with these people? It seems like stories just like this have been in the news a lot lately , people jus t walking into schools or buildings killing as many people as they can and then themselves to try and prove a point. But what I don’t get is what do they think this is proving? The only thing it proves to me is that these people are cowards and complete lunatics. But the insanity plea still feels like a copout to me, it’s like oh sorry I killed a bunch of people but its’ ok I’m crazy will you forgive me? These people grew up in society they know the difference between right and wrong. I just don’t understand what would possibly drive a person to do something like this , it’s a selfish and cowardly act but unfortunately is a reoccurring theme in our country.

sesame street still kickin ass
I just saw online that today is the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street the children’s television show. I thought this was pretty cool because I remember watching this show when I was like 5 years old and thinking it was the greatest thing on earth. I liked all the characters and was compelled by all the stories. Clearly kids of several generations have felt the same way as I did if the show has gained enough support to keep running for 40 years, but I am curious as to what makes this show stick out from the rest for kids? Especially with all the advancement in technology, new generations of cartoons and just all the other options kids have for entertainment in each new decade what has made this show stand the test of time? There has been tons of popular shows and characters throughout the years but the creators of Sesame Street were able to figure out a way to appeal to children no matter what generation the grew up in.
first of many
This past couple weeks have been pretty stressful for me I have had my fair share of tests and quizzes and papers. Practice has been getting more intense and the weight cutting part has been wearing on me. However this weekend is a special weekend. This weekend will be the first competition of my career at the collegiate level , I will be wrestling in a tournament at Virginia tech. It has been something I have been looking forward to since I was a little kid wondering where I would go to school and who I would be wrestling for so it’s a pretty cool feeling. Even though it has been a tough adjustment to the college wrestling style and I have had my hands full in the practice room I am really excited to get out and scrap with some competition from other schools and just compete. This is the beginning of a long season that doesn’t end until march , but I am just excited the competitions have finally arrived hopefully I will feel the same way when the tournament is over.

DORMS
I live in Tuttle room 144, my roommate is John Fausey he is the man and for a first year dorm room I think we have a pretty sick setup. However dorms are starting to get on my bad side. First there Is not enough storage space in the room for all of my belongings so it gets cluttered almost everyday if we don’t find time to clean up the laundry or whatever else it is we have laying around on the floor. The hard tiled floors often become infested with dirt and grass from the bottom of our shoes so when we are walking around barefoot we are always in for a surprise. Even just the fact that you can never really have the privacy you want or play the music you want without wondering if you are irritating your roommate makes It a daily struggle. I think all first years can relate to the feeling of being trapped in a small room with someone else almost like prison everyday can get old quickly. I am excited to move into my house with my teammates on june 11 that is for sure
how can i keep up?
The fast pace first year student athlete schedule is something I was not mentally or physically prepared for, and I am starting to worry if I can keep this pace for much longer. My day begins waking up at 6 am for a morning practice in the wrestling room where it is not uncommon for our coach to end the practice having us do 100 or more pushups and pull-ups as a “cool down” as he likes to call it. It doesn’t matter how long it takes us we just have to get it done. Then off to class which is usually hard to concentrate in or stay awake for anyone, but this is especially challenging after a morning practice. Then due to a poor test grade I am required to serve study hall hours in my coaches office or academic advisors office from 1-3 everyday usually not finding time for lunch. Then after struggling through that I head right back into practice for the 2nd time of the day which is always tougher than the first one. From there is head back to required study hall in JPJ which is actually a huge help academically so its hard to complain about, however it just adds one more required activity and place for me to be that stresses me out. I get back to my dorm around 8 or 830 which is actually earlier than some of my teammates get home (Gabe Gomez) who doesn’t get home until 10 usually. And to top this all off during this fast paced day I have to limit my food and drink intake because I have weigh inns every weekend and and currently 10 pounds over for my weigh in this coming Saturday. I am trying to figure out ways to cope but it really starting to mentally break me, because I do love to wrestle and I do love my team its just hard to keep up.

Aderol
Aderol prescriptions have become so wide spread among high school and college students that it seems almost half the people you ask have one. Several of my friends even as late as the summer going into their first year of college were diagnosed with ADD and started taking aderol to help them focus in class and get their work done. However it doesn’t just end there, they have said that it enhances every aspect of their life from school work to practice to even getting chores done like cleaning your room. The way they make it sound in this competitive environment you are now almost at a disadvantage if you do not take aderol. The thing that bothers me though is I struggle very much so doing things like homework and writing papers, and sitting through a whole class and not getting distracted is almost impossible. So why can I not get a prescription? Well apparently the sports medicine doctor said he dosnt think I need it based on a conversation I had with him which I think is a bit ridiculous. So my question is the fact that it is such an enhancer is going to make more and more people attempt to get Aderol from the doctor, are we going to reach a point when everyone is taking Aderol? I mean it cant hurt society at all there is no harmful side effects , the only side effect is making you a more productive and attentive individual. So why not just have everyone take it?

murderer sues victim for ice cream truck
I was recently online browsing the internet and I came across an article that blew my mind. It was about a convicted murderer who was suing one of the victims he didn’t manage to kill before he was arrested. The man in prison who had already killed a man on the west coast flew out to New York to meet up with a friend that was selling him an ice cream truck for 18,000 dollars, but took his friend hostage and held him at gunpoint when he didn’t get the ice cream truck he paid for. In the end the man was convicted of his previous murder and made headline news when he agreed to plead guilty if he could have his favorite foods from KFC and some Hagen Daze ice cream. Now he wants revenge he is suing his friend for the full 18,000 dollars from prison and he even wants a refund for the travel expenses he used in flying out to kidnap him, the crazy part is he is winning his case in court! I still am a little unclear as to which side I am on because I don’t know some of the details. But should our judicial system allow this? Should we let convicted murderers sue their hostage victims from prison? At first it might seem a little crazy but after all the man never got his ice cream truck, some people just love ice cream I guess.

legalization of marijuana
The legalization of marijuana has been a hot topic of debate for several years now. The common belief is that marijuana is an addicting drug with harmful effects that leads to more serious drugs and crimes. In my opinion this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Unlike cigarette smoke there are absolutely no addicting substances in marijuana, and the tar and nicotine along with other bodily poisons found in cigarettes prove to cause thousands upon thousands of deaths a year that the natural cannabis plant does not. So aside from the fact that it is physically impossible to overdose on marijuana , and there has never been a death reported due to marijuana smoke what are some other reasons why we should legalize it? Well as many of you probably know the economy is at an extreme low right now and the country is in need of a solution marijuana could be the cash crop that brings us out of this slump. Our government spends millions of dollars a year on keeping people in prison on marijuana charges , 41,000 people to be exact. In my opinion that money that we spend housing and feeding these people in prison should be going towards more legitimate needs. Not to mention the fact that if it were legalized there wouldn’t be drug dealers using violence and other illegal activities to try and stay away from prison. My final argument is that there are states in this country that have already legalized it for medicinal purposes! How are you going to tell me that hospitals in California and Denver feel that is should be used as a medicine to heal and prescribe to people yet the rest of the country is worried about how harmful it is? Marijuana is not a mind altering substance, it does not affect or blur your vision nor does it affect your mental stability. Clearly several doctors in California and Denver believe that marijuana can be used to help heal people and cause less stress, so why should the rest of the country be deprived of that same right and opportunity of getting better just because of where we live? Now I am not saying that we should full on just let people go crazy buying and selling in the streets with no limits, if we regulated trade and had farmers leading the way with the cash crop and even suggesting a limit to the amount you can have on you at one time (so not to suggest intent to sell) then there is no reason in my opinion why marijuana should not be legalized in the united states.
